Timeframe extension
Extra time the plan takes beyond the normal decision deadline, recorded as a Y/N field.
Several timeliness standards allow a longer deadline when the plan extends the timeframe, for example 28 instead of 14 calendar days for standard pre-service ODs. The layouts record whether an extension was taken (Y or N). CMS reviews sampled cases to ensure an extension was appropriate, and for grievances looks for documentation of how the delay is in the enrollee's interest.
