General
What does UniVerify actually check?+
Your file's structure against CMS's published record layout for that universe: field order, format, required values, and length. It doesn't check your policy decisions.
Does a clean scan mean CMS won't flag us?+
It means your file matches the layout. It doesn't replace your policy or clinical review, CMS audits both.
What happens after a scan?+
You get a list of exactly which table, row, and column failed, and why. Fix the file and re-run it as many times as you need.
What's the actual risk of a formatting error?+
A submission gets three attempts to match the layout. Fail all three and CMS can cite an Invalid Data Submission, a finding of its own, on top of whatever the file was reporting. Catching the format issue before you submit keeps that off the table entirely.
Why is "none" rejected?+
CMS record layouts specify the exact literal None, capital N. Because submissions that don't strictly adhere to the layout are rejected, UniVerify treats any other casing as an error rather than guess CMS would accept it.
My MBI looks valid but got flagged. Why?+
The usual invisible causes: a leading or trailing space, a lowercase letter, a hyphen, or a length other than exactly 11 characters. The check follows the CMS protocol wording: 11 uppercase letters and digits, no hyphens.
Privacy & security
Does our data ever leave our computer?+
No. File contents are never uploaded, parsing and validation run entirely in your browser. UniVerify stores only a non-PHI summary of each run: counts, row numbers, column letters, rule codes, and the file name you chose. Never names, MBIs, medical text, or any cell value. Keep PHI out of your file names.
Do we need a BAA to use this?+
Universe file contents are processed locally and aren't transmitted to UniVerify. Whether your organization needs a BAA depends on its own requirements, happy to discuss during review.
Where do the validation rules live?+
Shipped with the tool and checked against your file locally. No rule lookup calls out to a server mid-scan.
Coverage
Which universes does UniVerify cover?+
All five CMS program-audit universes: ODAG, CDAG, FA, SNPCC, and CPE, each with their full set of tables.
Are the rules kept current?+
Yes. The rule set is updated whenever CMS publishes a new or revised layout.
Does it cover both Medicare Advantage and Part D?+
Yes, coverage spans both, since the universes themselves do.
For teams
Can consultants use this across multiple clients?+
Yes. Each scan is independent and local, so nothing from one client's file touches another's.
Is there a record of past scans?+
Yes, every validation is saved automatically. History lists file name, universe, record count, and result, and you can reopen any run's full error detail weeks later. Since only rule codes are stored, it's safe to share with teammates.
Can more than one person on our team use it?+
Yes, there's no per-file limit tied to a single seat.
