Independent Review Entity (IRE)
The outside entity that untimely Part D cases are auto-forwarded to, and that can overturn a sponsor's decisions.
When the sponsor's notification is untimely and auto-forwarding is required, the case must go to the IRE. Tables 1-4 record the date and time a case was auto-forwarded to the IRE. Decisions overturned by the IRE, ALJ or MAC are reported in Universe Table 5 (EFF_D).
