Compliance Program Effectiveness (CPE)

The CMS program audit area that evaluates how well a sponsoring organization's Medicare Part C and Part D compliance program works.

CPE is one of the CMS program audit areas for Medicare Parts C and D. CMS tests three audit elements: Prevention, Detection, and Correction Controls and Activities. Unlike enrollee-level areas, it asks for one universe, Table 1: Compliance Oversight Activities (COA), plus supplemental documentation and tracer case summaries.
