Compliance officer
The employee designated to run the Medicare compliance program and report compliance issues to senior management and the governing body.
CMS assesses whether the organization designated an employee of the organization, its parent organization, or a corporate affiliate as the compliance officer. The compliance officer and compliance committee must show appropriate accountability and report Medicare compliance issues to senior management and the governing body. The compliance officer is interviewed and must complete the Compliance Officer Questionnaire.
